SHAMAN'S JOURNEY - INTRODUCTION

Extended introduction to shamanic journeying, nature work and ceremony

Residential course, Halland, Sweden: Wed 13 - Sun 17 July

* This year the course is offered mainly to people in Scandinavia *

SJPath small

Shamanism is humanity's oldest spiritual practice, a tradition for healing and problem solving. It is a way of maintaining balance in one self, and also between humans and the rest of creation.

During this entry-level course, participants will be introduced to some of the main ideas and methods used for thousands of years by shamans around the world. Shamanism is not limited to Native Americans or other indigenous cultures. Northern Europe also has an ancient shamanic tradition, and we all have - as human beings - the ability to work shamanically.

The main emphasis of the course is on the shaman's journey to the world of the Spirits. Participants will learn to use traditional methods such as singing, dancing, rattling and drumming to shift to shamanic consciousness, meet Spirit helpers, and explore the Spirit world. In this other reality, one can receive power and knowledge for how to live well and in good relationship. We will also touch the spirit side of Nature and learn how to ask for support, guidance and connection.

In the circle, we will take time to share different experiences of the journeys, and learn how to understand them. We will also explore the ethics of shamanic work, ways to formulate intentions, and how shamanism can empower our everyday lives.

** The course is taught in English, by Jonathan Horwitz & Zara Waldebäck.

It is open to everyone, no previous experience is needed.

** SPECIAL NOTICE -

Due to covid-19 precautions, this introduction course will be run in a slightly different format than usual, to minimise physical contact and risk of spread. It still includes all essential elements needed for a basic personal practice at home. Because there is a risk we may need to cancel at short notice, this year we are offering the course mainly to participants already located in Scandinavia.
