A key aspect of shamanic practice is, and always has been, to heal illness and help maintain good health. Healing is often a deeper process rather than a quick fix. It does not only focus on removal of symptoms but on bringing back order and balance. An essential aspect of healing from a Spirit perspective, is to remove that which doesn’t belong and to restore that which is missing.

The concept of Power is essential, as healing often involves re-empowerment. On this course we will examine different ways of returning lost power and working with a client’s essential and natural power as a way to health. You will learn how to find where power may be leaking, and how to remove inappropriate power, including different processes of cleaning and clearing.

In this way of healing, the power and wisdom always comes from the Spirits. As clients and healers, we can go to them with our wishes but they give the diagnosis and decide what is most needed. It is not possible to order the Spirits what to do or prescribe what you want. By meeting special Spirit healing experts, they become the real teachers and show you how to work. Developing a deep and clear relationship to a Healing Spirit teacher is essential to a long-term practice.

In all healing, it is important that the client is able to receive what is offered to them. We will look at how you can help them prepare beforehand, and what they need to do after the work to bring the healing into everyday life. Often, some sort of change is necessary to ensure the healing has a long-lasting and deep effect. We will look at how to explain healing processes to clients, so they can better manage their expectations, and integrate and accept the power.

You will experience how it is to receive healing from the Spirits by taking part in a variety of pair work exercises. One of the best ways of learning about healing is to go through it yourself. This helps us to understand how to best help people and the different things that can happen in a healing process.

Special healing tools can be useful during diagnosis and treatment, and we will look at ways to find and assemble them. You will also experience the healing potential of song and words, and how to ally yourself with plant helpers in Spirit form.

There will be several group healing ceremonies, and exploration of how circles and community contexts can help bring power to healing work.

The course also covers the ethics of working with shamanic healing and essential practices such as deep listening, holding a healing space, and maintaining our own health when doing this work over time.

Working with Spirit Journeys, Nature, and Ceremonies, there will be time to share experiences and reflect on how to bring the wisdom home to our lives.

Special Opportunity: the course also offers a possibility to do a traditional ceremonial Sitting-Out at night (Utiseta) for those who wish.

This intensive residential course is taught in English, by Jonathan Horwitz & Zara Waldebäck

Much of the coursework will be done in pairs. All participants must take part in this, both receiving as client and being the one that brings the healing. This is not optional. It is important that you bring real issues that you want healing for, either physical or emotional. It is an intensive and demanding course that is especially for people who want to learn how to do shamanic healing work for others. Although you will receive healing on the course, it is not primarily intended for people only seeking healing.

If you have trained in other healing methods, it is essential that you do not practice them during the course, but only use the way that we share with you. This enables a clean and well held working space for all.

Participants must have completed introductory training
"The Shaman's Journey"
or agreed equivalent, and have good contact with at least two Spirit Helpers. Ideally you should have journeyed with the Spirits in the way we teach for at least 2 years or more, and have clear journeys with good understanding of Spirit communication. This is an advanced course and best taken when you have a solid journey practice.
