We cannot live without coming into contact with death. Whether it be loved ones leaving, or our own sense of getting close to the end, it is something we all encounter. Death is part of Life and the Spirits can teach us how to face it and how to ask for help as we go through it and learn to live with it.

On this course we will explore death from a Spirit perspective and how this can enrich our lives. We will cover four main areas:

  • Facing our own mortality and receiving help to fully live life
  • Being more aware of and honouring the “small deaths” of endings
  • Working shamanically with people who are dying
  • Working shamanically with escorting the souls of the dead

As we engage with our own mortality, we can learn to use death as an advisor for becoming more fully alive while here on Earth.

We will look at what happens during dying, dealing with loss and grief, and find ways to complete unfinished business. When we develop deeper understanding of these processes, it can help us to receive healing and empowerment.

The shaman's work with death and dying is closely connected to both soul retrieval and healing. It is one of the core practices of shamanic work. When doing healing work, we often come into contact with death, making this a helpful course for those involved with client work.

There are many classic techniques and rituals to support those close to death, including saying goodbye, bringing in peace and power, and preparing the soul to leave the body.

We will learn about the territories one travels to after death, and how to help others move on with traditional soul-guide work. It is essential to have training for this, and it should never be attempted without Spirit guidance and clear support.

To be able to be in the presence of death enriches all Spirit practice, and provides a different and deeper perspective on life. Together we will sit in Circle, journey to the Spirits, work with Nature, ceremony and talking piece sharing.
