DANCE WITH LIFE

SEPTEMBER 2026 -

As the Season turns and begins to whisper of dark times, we are reminded of many different gifts to come. We recently finished the Shamanism, Death & Life course, and felt again the joy of opening to what this dance brings us. Working with the Spirits can help us in any situation - to see more clearly, to feel more steady, to step more surely. During this course, we wrote many poems, and we share one with you here that came to Jonathan. We hope it will be nourishing as you walk through these days of change.

POEM: The Dance

I remember, as a kid, noticing

how sunlight changes with the seasons

and, even when I was grown,

the coming of winter's short days

touched my heart with a darkness

which I didn't recognize as being me

in any way at all – yet there it was,

as undeniable as dusk or dawn,

and, like so many things I’d met

on my path, I felt there was nothing

I could do about it – nothing at all.

But now I know, standing in the noon,

or in the dark of night, drinking

the power of the Sun or the Moon,

that I only have to open my arms

to bring the dance to my life at last,

and, at last, bring my life to the dance
