Shamanic dancing is a doorway to the World of the Spirits. The shaman uses dance to call the Spirits and bring them into our world. It offers an intimate and direct connection, and is one of the most empowering and clear ways of contacting the Spirits. Traditionally, different kinds of dances are used for different purposes. This course will introduce you to a variety of shamanic dances with specific intentions and forms to celebrate and thank our Spirit Helpers, to get in deeper contact with Nature, to ask for teachings from the Ancestors, to give and receive Healing, and as an essential part of ceremonial acts. Dance and ritual are often combined to create strong spiritual experiences, not only on a personal level but for communities as a whole. Ritual is a container for power, and dance helps to bring the power into the ritual. Shamanic dancing invites the Spirits in, allowing them to dance us, as much as we dance with them. As with other shamanic work, the key is the dancers intention and the ability to keep that intention clear, to shift your state of consciousness so you communicate with the Spirits through movement. In this way, shamanic dance is another kind of shamanic journeying. As this is a summer course, there is also the opportunity to do "utiseta" or Sitting Out, the ancient Nordic ritual of being alone in Nature overnight to ask for help and power Participants must have completed introductory course The Shaman's Journey or equivalent.
